Baby Shower - Take Two - Ward Girls + Kacie

Since they know that I don't like being the center of attention, Brooke and Emily planned a shower for me the past weekend. Being the center of attention once was just not enough :).Everyone looks so cute

One of my best friends from high school and college, Kacie and her daughter McKinley
My Goal: To look this cute at least once a week after having my daughter
(Realistic goal: maybe once a month - and it will probably be the baby that is better dressed than me)

I really appreciate all of the time and preparation that Brooke and Emily put into this shower. Thank you again everyone for making the time to come. It was great having everyone together and just having a good old "girlie" chat with no guys around. Kylee* or Alexis, (haven't won that battle with Kurt quite yet) will appreciate all the exciting and cute gifts as well.

P.S. (Sorry for so many pictures. I just liked them all and couldn't decide what to leave out.)

Baby Shower - Take One - Stable

Two weeks ago, the stable I work and ride at were very kind to throw a barbeque and baby shower for me. It was great seeing so much support from everyone.
I greatly dislike being the center of attention

Tina and I (she takes English riding lessons)
I survived being the center of attention and I even managed to drag Kurt out to the stable for the second time since we have moved here. I had to prove that there was a daddy. (Several parents thought that I had gotten knocked up.) That is what happens when you don't wear your wedding ring, I guess :).

Fort Washington

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that Kurt and I decided to do something outside to enjoy it. We ended up getting lost a little thanks to our GPS and construction, but we eventually made it to the Fort Washington Park.

Kurt disobeying the "No Climbing" sign
We have been here before, but last time it was not open so we were not able to see what was behind the gates. I am not a big history buff, but it was a fun experience. After seeing the barracks soldiers slept in, (dark brick chambers with straw cots), I am so thankful for mattresses and down pillows.
I am also glad to not be kept in this scary room
There were several scary places in this fort, but this was by far the scariest. It totally made me think of a scene from Sixth Sense. I couldn't believe how thick the door was and how dark it was in there. Future parenting tactic: bring my daughter here when she is older to convince her to obey her parents: "Look what happens to children who don't pick up their toys and listen to their parents." :)
Added bonus: Can you spot the woman lounging on the bridge?
It was a fun day to spend time with Kurt before he gets into Dental Boards mode. But being pregnant makes you notice how many steps were around this place. Sheesh! I was huffing and puffing my the end of the day.

Painting Day!

Marques "hard" at work

So today was official painting day of our new apartment. Kurt is still gone in Idaho and doesn't get back until later tonight so he lucked out on missing the work. I recruited friends from our ward though: Joan and Steve Tryon and Brooke and Marques Chavez.

With so much help, things went by quickly and we were able to get done 3 rooms painted within 4-5 hours. It looks great and I am looking forward to moving things in and decorating.

Thank you again everyone for helping!! I couldn't have done it in one day without you!

Way Too Much Stuff....

Next Sunday and Monday we are moving into a two bedroom apartment and I was thinking it was going to be a piece of cake. After all, we are just moving across the street into the same apartment complex. Boy was I wrong!

I did not realize how much stuff we have and a lot of it was hiding in one of the five storage closets we have throughout out apartment. The other sad thing, this is not even half of it.

While Kurt is gone for the week in Idaho, this is the extra help that he left me...Sadie. She is good at getting herself into boxes and almost getting packed.

Mother's Day Cards

Mother's Day is coming up and this year we have three people to give cards to. Instead of spending money, I decided to use scraps from my scrapbooking stuff and see if I could come up with something. I was pretty excited with what turned out! Yeah! Crafty moment!
