WARNING: Picture Crazed Mom

So I am the typical mom who gets a little picture happy with posting photos of her daughter. Oh well, at least I admit to it.

Kylee and I have been trying to be creative with things to do while it has been raining the past few days.

We have made playdo, visited the Easter Bunny, played dress up (so really this was just for my benefit to try cute outfits on Kylee), and just play around.

Thankfully it started warming up today and should be nice the rest of this week. We took advantage and had some fun playing outside. Kylee might not have thought so since I accidently watched her totally biff it on her face. Oops!

P.S. Can you tell that Kylee has a little tag-a-long buddy lately? I will admit to some influence in her lovey being a horse, but she has been taking it everywhere with her lately. Crazy girl!

Kite Flying Festival

This past weekend was the Kite Flying Festival in D.C. along with the Cherry Blossom Festival. We decided to go out and check out all the kites. Thanks to my $3.50 kite purchase from Safeway we were able to fly a little kite too. Even though "some" were hesitant it would fly, it actually did pretty well. Kylee loved seeing all the different colors in the sky and loved smiling and talking to all of the people.

This was our awesome $3.50 kite flying proudly among the other kites. (It was a little fish)

So there was one thing I saw at the festival that I really wish I had taken a picture of. These are some of the things and some of the people you look forward to spotting at these kind of events.

The recumbent bike that I saw had a cover over it instead of the clear plastic shell that was neon green with black zebra stripes. It looked like a little space ship. Everyone to their own hobbies though.

Eating Worms

Two weeks ago was Kurt's spring break. There was great weather to play outside and we took advantage as much as we could.

We went for walks around our block, went to Old Town, visited friends, and spent a lot of time at the park.

One of these trips led to Kylee finding a worm and thinking it might be some nice tasty thing to eat. I think she ended up deciding to leave the worms to the birds. At least I hope.

First Encounter with Spray Paint

About a month ago I found this little kid's bench put outside for garbage. (Kurt always makes fun of me about this since I have gotten lots of toys and carseats this way for Kylee and to sell on Craig's List.) Anyway, I thought it would be a fun project to clean the bench up and make it a little cuter.

Here is the BEFORE:

Here is the AFTER:

It ended up turning out cute, but it ended up being a WHOLE LOT more work than I originally expected. I ended up having to sand all the paint, prime it and then paint again, again, and again. As Kurt will let you know, there are some runs from the spray paint here and there and it took a lot of coats over and over before I didn't have brown where pink should be and the other way around. Oh well, it's done and I am happy with my first spray paint project! :)

Big Girls Don't Cry...

I don't think Kylee has gotten this memo.

She has now been crawling and pulling herself up on everything. It has been interesting coming a round a corner and seeing Kylee standing up and look at you like a little girl.

With her learning to stand up on everything has come the lesson of her falling in order to get back down. This has lead to ALOT of crying the past week until she learned how to fall down on her butt.

Thank goodness she learned how to not land on her head. I will admit it was trying my patience having her cry every couple of minutes.

Harrisburg and Hershey

So two weekends ago we visited Harrisburg and Hershey, Pennsylvania. I wanted a little weekend getaway and there ended up being a horse show for the Horse World Expo in Harrisburg. Poor Kurt. We did end up getting a discount on our hotel though thanks to the horse expo.

Our hotel had a pool so Kylee got to have her first swimming experience. She was nervous and whined at first, but once she was given her favorite tub toy, tiger, she was fine. She didn't want to relinquish tiger though for the life of her. She was not much of a fan of her mother dunking her under the water either. She gave me a look of betrayal and mistrust. I couldn't help but laugh.

On our way home we stopped at the Hershey Chocolate Factory. As anyone knows whose been there, you don't actually get to enter the real factory. They have a tourist center set up for you to watch movies, taste chocolate, take a ride, and display all their types of candy for you to buy. Kylee wasn't old enough to enjoy the full benefits of being surrounded by candy, but her mom and dad sure enjoyed it. We contained ourselves to only buying a few things. It was hard though.

Overall, it was a nice weekend to just get away and spend time as a family. (Yeah!! No Internet or Xbox to distract Kurt). :)

SUN!!

I forgot how great it can feel to walk outside and have the sun on your back. It is amazing how much the sun can lift your spirits. Kylee and I have tried to take advantage of the warmer weather and sunshine over the past couple of days. I am just hoping the oncoming rain doesn't stay for forever and that the weather will turn nice again. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

I will update soon with pictures of our last couple weeks of activities.
