Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

So as many of you know there are a lot of things about to happen this summer for us and we were still not knowing where or what we were going to do. Things are still up in the air to a degree, but I finally could not handle the uncertainty anymore and made some decisions.

Kylee and I are going to be officially leaving May 17th (cat included) and flying to Idaho. We are looking for a relatively cheap apartment to rent close to Kurt's parents for the summer (not real cost effective, but I need my space). Kurt will join us hopefully in June (if he has not gotten all his clinical requirements passed off before). We will have the baby in Idaho and then hope to be moving mid-August for our next great two year adventure. Options in Montana and New Mexico are looking good at the moment, but nothing is set in stone yet.

So that is pretty much the plans for the moment. Still amazing how fast things can change though.

Spring Break

Over Kurt's spring break we visited the stable again. It was such a nice day, that Kurt even decided to join in on the fun.

He was in for a surprise when he realized just how much Kylee really likes riding. The two main words you hear from her are "up" (to get on the horse) and "go" (if you stop the horse). She will even start rocking back and forth and making kissing noises, hoping this will coax Rosie along.

She was not happy with just riding the pony, she had to join in on the ride with me as well. I made the mistake of stopping by her and Kurt during my ride and Kylee climbed right on up to hitch a ride. She even started laughing when we trotted.

We are definitely going to take advantage of the pony rides for the next month or two while we are still here.

Looks like my little cowgirl dreams are coming true.

Lions, Tigers, and Monkeys! Oh My!

Threw you off there! :) We did not see any bears or elephants this time. Our first stop was to the elephant yard, but they were in their pens while the zoo keepers were placing treats in the yard for them to find.

We did visit the Mammal House, the Ape House, and the Reptilian House. Kylee found things in every house that she liked: gorillas, monkeys, turtles, iguana, and alligators.

Two of the exhibits Kylee did get really excited about were the lions and tigers.

 

We missed the baby lion cubs, but she was intent on watching the male lion take an afternoon nap and hearing the male tiger let out a roar here and there. She kept trying to get every vantage point that she could find.

Over the Hill and Through the Woods

Okay, so Kurt is not really over the hill yet. He still has a good eight years on him before life is over as he knows it (40 years old.) Kurt turned 32-years-old yesterday. He had to go to school, but was made a nice, warm breakfast, came home to a bouquet of balloons (that was more for Kylee), and was able to go to one of his favorite restaurants for dinner, Artie's.

Brad watched Kylee and experienced his first diaper explosion. Poor guy! Kylee has probably deterred him from children for a lifetime. He got pretty creative in cleaning her though.

We made it up to him with bringing home some ribs and having some cake and ice cream before the night was over.

Weekend Activities

I am sure you can probably guess what Kylee and I did most of the weekend...walk dogs. It is pretty much a given when you have a dog walking business. Kylee seemed to quite enjoy herself and loved helping with each dog.

These little dog adventures do make me wish at times that we had our own dog(s) for Kylee to enjoy playing with, but then the reality always hits about a minute later on how much extra time and attention would be required of me. Totally not worth it for me at this point and time, having another baby is going to add enough poop in my life for the moment. Someday though. This is definitely going to be one of the many reasons Kylee and I are going to miss all of our dogs after we are done running our business.

Dental Boards

So our exciting news for this week is that Kurt received both of his scores from his clinical and written boards. 

He PASSED both!

We are so excited and relieved. This has taken so much stress off both of our shoulders (mainly his) and we are excited to just have one more test to get through and then hopefully figure out where we are going for the summer.

Biting Off More Than You Can Chew

You know those great ideas about projects you suddenly have? They seem so simple and easy to do, UNTIL you actually try to do them. Well, I had one of those this week. Our church had an activity tonight where we were invited to make cakes and enter them into a contest. Knowing me, you know that I am competitive and can't help but take up on the competition. I saw this picture online of a cute little flower cupcake cake and thought it would be such an easy process.

Little did I know, 3 hours later, how much of a project I really had taken on. (I am sure if I was better in this field of expertise I could have done it much faster, but I am not.) All I can say is that I am glad that I made the attempts of frosting and decorating while Kylee was taking a nap.

In the end it turned out looking pretty cute, tasted great, and it did win a prize after all. (I still need to think twice before I embark on another great little adventure anytime soon.)
